Hattiesburg, MS - Scott Walper, a chemistry graduate student at the University of Southern Mississippi was awarded a full scholarship to the Chemical and Biological Defense Physical Science and Technology Conference in New Orleans, LA. The conference will take place Nov 17-21, and will showcase basic and early applied research relevant to chemical and biological defense for military and first responders.

Walper is one of only 20 students in the nation to receive the prestigious award. His winning abstract submission is entitled "Generation of a Recombinant Antibody Library for Implementation in a QCM-based Biosensor." Walper's scholarship will cover transportation, lodging, meals, and the conference registration.
"I am very grateful to have been awarded such a generous scholarship for this conference. I know this will be a great experience to represent Southern Miss, and also be an opportunity to network and establish positive relationships that will lead to future opportunities for me."
